What Should I Know Before I Purchase A Lawn Sprinkler System?

Q: What’s the advantage of an automatic in-ground sprinkler system?

A: The systems we install provide:

  • a healthier, more beautiful yard with less time, less effort
  • use less water!
  • even watering over an entire yard or landscape on a schedule, or...
  • targeted watering to serve the individual needs of specific areas and plants.
  • automatic irrigation at the time(s) you specify or as your rain sensor dictates.
  • freedom from dragging around and cluttering your yard with hoses.

Q: Will an automatic sprinkler system use more water than I'm currently using?

A: No. In fact, it will conserve water. Because the system's controller and rain sensor are set to deliver only the amount of water you need, you never have to worry about over- or under-watering your yard.

Q: I hate seeing sprinkler systems watering in the rain. What is the reason for that?

A: Allowing an automatic sprinkler system to run in the rain is a huge waste of water and is irresponsible of the homeowner. Either the system should be shut off upon threat of rain or an Automatic Rain shut-off device should be installed.

Q. Does having a sprinkler system really save time?

A. Yes. When your system is installed and set-up properly, your yard is watered efficiently, effectively, automatically -- whether you’re home or away. You won’t spend another minute dragging out and connecting hoses, placing and repositioning sprinklers, and putting it all away when you’re through – just to do it all again a few days later.

Q. Will an automatic sprinkler system water as well as I can water by hand?

A. It will do a much better job because a professionally designed-and-installed system will deliver exactly the right amount of water exactly where it is needed on lawns, landscaping and garden areas.

Q. We generally get 30 or more inches of rainfall a year. Do we really need a sprinkler system?

A. If it rained at your house every three days the same exact amount each time you probably would not need a sprinkler system. But Nature isn’t that predictable. In the dry season, your yard can suffer damage after just a few days without water. The only way to ensure healthy, lush growth is to make certain your lawn and plants receive a regularly timed, evenly measured amount of water.

Q. Will I have difficulty operating my system?

A. No. Today’s quality sprinkler controllers are intuitive and simple to operate. We’ll show you how your controller works, how to set watering times and how to adjust your sprinkler heads If watering times need to be altered, it’s a simple matter of following the instructions in the controller cabinet, or referring to the adjustment guides for the sprinkler heads installed in your yard. Q: Why is it important to hire a contractor who is licensed, insured, and professionally certified?

A: Licenses and certification offer an objective means of judging whether or not a contractor is trained and qualified to do the work, meets the industry’s highest standards and delivers customer satisfaction. Reputable irrigation professionals carry appropriate insurance including worker’s compensation and various liability policies to protect you and your property. If something would happen and your contractor wasn't properly insured, everything you own could be at risk.

Q: How can I find out if a company is a Certified Irrigation Contractor?
